Sedation Registered Nurse (RN) - Interventional Radiology
Job Description
- Performs various activities necessary for the preparation of the patient and the procedure room for the radiology procedures in compliance with policies and procedures and state and federal regulations.
- Assists physician during procedures.
- Completes patient assessment, monitoring for procedures and post-care.
- Conducts patient education before test and performs follow-up when necessary.
- Inserts PICC lines and performs troubleshooting maintenance preferred
- Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care needs.
- Safely administer moderate sedation/medications ordered by clinicians.
- Submit prescriptions and refills to pharmacies per licensed clinician orders.
- Assist in the onboarding or cross-training of team members.
- Monitors, records, and reports symptoms or changes in patient's conditions.
- Prepares rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, or supplies and ensures that stock of supplies is maintained.
- Communicate physician treatment plans including lab/imaging results to patients and documents appropriately within the EMR.

Job Requirements
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS
- RN license and certification as required by state.
- BLS certification required, ACLS preferred.
- Certified Radiology Nurse preferred
KNOWLEDGE | SKILLS | ABILITIES
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Delivers exceptional patient service throughout all interactions.
- Ability to build relationships with patients and display empathy and compassion to patients.
- Knowledge in healthcare systems operations such as EMR.
- Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
- Takes responsibility for own actions and is forthright about errors or uncertainty
- Ability to handle stressful and constantly changing conditions.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program, BSN preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum one year of Interventional Radiology experience is strongly preferred.
- Experienced in conscious sedation
- Prostatic Artery Embolization experience
